'COMING OF AGE'IFP Annual Conference & Exhibition 2007Take a look at pictures and video highlights from the 2007 event. There was an excellent speaker line-up which included John Bird, Geoff Burch and stimulating keynote sessions from Financial Planners in the US and Australia. There were also some thought provoking seminars and workshops as well as the usual camaraderie and sharing of ideas among delegates that the event has become famous for. It was a 48 hour experience to be remembered. Conference sessions were packed out, with "standing room only" for the most popular ones. 2007 experiences The 2007 Forum marked the Institute of Financial Planning's 21st year, the 'coming of age' of the IFP, and this was celebrated in style! With almost 500 attendees including over 300 Financial Planners, the conference was the biggest ever. CLICK HERE to view the Financial Planner magazine's post conference review in pictures. As the IFP's flagship event, it continues to attract the highest calibre of speaker and delegate, with many individuals travelling from overseas and across the UK, to take part in this internationally renowned event. Forum for Success 2007: Video This conference has something to offer all levels of delegate - from the paraplanner to the CFP licensee to the Fellow. Most praised the quality of the speakers - and the quality of the delegates too! The Paraplanner's point of view...
"Educating, motivating, interesting, amusing, developing - all words that can be used to describe the IFP's Annual Conference. As a paraplanner, it is invaluable to meet and talk with Financial Planners through the networking sessions and evenings - speaking in fact to the very people you read in the trade press, each week. The sessions and seminars allow you the opportunity to listen to the professionals, those that have been there and done it, sharing with you the highs, the lows, opportunities and pitfalls. Meanwhile, the exhibitor stands give a chance to meet and speak with a range of providers, and sometimes put a face to a voice on the telephone. The Conference serves as a reminder and a refresher. It provides an ideal opportunity to pause for a moment, and reflect on where you are going and how you get there. And, above all, its actually fun!" Christopher Morgan, Senior Paraplanner, Chambers Morgan James Financial Management The IFP Conference novice's point of view... "I primarily decided to attend my first IFP conference in 2007 to listen to the line-up of top quality speakers that had been chosen to deliver presentations in their areas of specialist knowledge. They certainly did not disappoint! Presentations ranged from technical updates to networking advice, and I was particularly encouraged by the fact that various "tracks" also offered the opportunity for personal development as well as the usual business-orientated advice. The conference was a fantastic way to meet with industry providers that you would otherwise be too busy in your everyday life to deal with. And as for the Gala Dinner - well what can I say?! If you are looking for the opportunity to meet up with like-minded fellow professionals and to keep up to date with the latest developments in our industry, whilst at the same time having a great deal of fun, then look no further than the IFP conference. I certainly look forward to attending again in 2008!" Karen Wood CFPCM, Greenfields Financial Management Ltd The Sponsor's point of view...
"This conference was a great success with the right subjects for the right audience in the right situation. Over the two days the air of enthusiasm and willing participation was positively dynamic and I believe most infectious to any who were there. It will be a hard act to follow but also a good base to build on." Justin Urquhart Stewart, Seven Investment Management The external event manager's point of view... "I thought the whole event was well organised, well attended with excellent content that IFP members clearly find essential for their businesses. Not many conference organisers get that number of paying delegates but I can see why Financial Planners feel it's worth the money. From my perspective it gave me a much clearer idea of how Financial Planners work, what their priorities are and how they differ from IFAs. Again, congratulations on a very successful conference." Andy White, Portfolio Director, Clarion Events Delegate feedback... "A good balance of technical content, professional development ideas and motivational talks. Plenty of opportunities for networking with like minded professionals." Graham Ogston, Medical & Dental Financial Planners "I travelled from Australia for conference - very happy with the results. Good to see the issues faced are similar everywhere, but interesting to hear the UK perspective." Paul Moran CFPCM, Paul Moran Financial Planning "The best industry event I've ever been to - thank you!! Extremely well organised. Everyone was very friendly and willing to share - a trademark of IFP." Keith Lamley, Revelstone Financial Planning Ltd "I thought the Conference overall was very good and a very fitting birthday celebration. The networking as usual was excellent with good opportunities to meet like minded people and re-acquaint with friends. These opportunities are as important as the sessions themselves for sharing of ideas and best practice etc." Ian O'Connor FIFP CFP, Astute Financial Planning "Really enjoyed it, some great speakers, came away with loads of ideas."
